2024 CAMPAIGN
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
While the Virtual 5K has been incredibly successful in raising awareness and funds, we wanted to focus our efforts on a grander scale, with a more impactful goal: providing 600 prosthetic legs to individuals in need. This campaign directly addresses a crucial need in underserved communities, offering life-changing mobility and independence.
Absolutely! This year the Hope To Walk club at Virginia Tech is hosting an in-person 5K, or you can participate virtually from anywhere in the world. Participating in the 5K is a great way to stay involved, stay active, and help raise funds for this important cause.
The goal of this campaign is to raise enough funds to provide 600 prosthetic legs to individuals in need by the end of next year. You can support the campaign by participating in events like the Virtual 5K, running your own fundraisers, or making a direct donation. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps us reach our goal to get the world walking again.
There are many ways to get involved beyond the 5K! Here are a few ideas:
- Dedicate Your Birthday: Ask friends and family to donate to the campaign instead of giving gifts.
- Run a Marathon or Other Event: Use your participation in a marathon or similar event as an opportunity to raise funds for prosthetic legs.
- Host a Fundraiser: Whether it’s a bake sale, lemonade stand, or car wash, any fundraiser can make a difference.
- Spread the Word: Share our campaign on social media and with your network to help us reach more people.
All funds raised will go directly towards providing prosthetic legs for individuals in need. 600 patients will receive their prosthetic legs in 2025 in countries like Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Dominican Republic, Tanzania and Vietnam.
Providing a prosthetic leg is about more than just physical mobility—it restores dignity, independence, and the ability to participate in daily life activities. For many, it’s a life-changing gift that opens up opportunities for employment, education, and social interaction.
We will be regularly updating our website and social media channels with the progress of the campaign, including how many legs have been funded and stories of individuals who have benefited from your generosity. Stay tuned for updates and success stories! Donors will receive access to exclusive content from the field and the Founder’s Blog – which will highlight Founder Phil Johnson’s field work across Dominican Republic, Guatemala, El Salvador and Belize between October 12-November 30, 2024.
You can make a direct donation to the 600 Legs 600 Lives Campaign through our website at hopetowalk.org/donate. For an even greater impact, create a team or event and share with your friends and family on DonorBox.
