Terry was born in Sioux Falls, SD but spent most of his youth living in New Orleans, LA. He would later move to Memphis, TN and obtain a degree from The University of Memphis. This is also where he would meet his wife, Debbie. Terry spent 30 years in retail management while his wife completed her education and worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Throughout this time he always had a passion for building and serving others. He has been blessed with the opportunity to travel with his church and other groups on mission trips to use his abilities to give back to those in need. He has helped construct churches in Mexico, ramps for families with special needs in Charlotte, and beds for children in Guatemala.
Through his time serving on missions he met Michael Mabry and his family. Michael came and spoke at his church in 2016 and expressed that God had placed on his heart a passion for helping amputees around the world. They wanted to show the amputees that they were cared for, had value, and wanted to empower them by giving them a prosthetic leg. Michael described the Hope to Walk organization, the massive prosthetic need worldwide, and the state of amputees who had no opportunity to purchase a prosthetic. Terry knew on that day that he wanted to help but wasn’t sure how to get involved.
Months went by and on Terry’s last day on the job at Target, literally as he was walking out the door, Michael walked in. They connected briefly and Michael invited him on their upcoming trip to Honduras. Terry went on the trip and was an incredible team member. He assisted the team in numerous ways and even helped install his first prosthetic leg on a patient. From this point on, Terry knew he wanted to help move Hope To Walk forward so that more people around the world could receive hope. Terry joined the Board of Hope To Walk in early 2017 and is very excited about the future.
He and his wife Debbie have been married for 25 years and have two children – Justin and Jessica. Justin is serving in the United States Air Force and Jessica is a freshman in college. He and his family reside in Johnson City, TN
