Hope to Walk
Our new friend Omar came to the clinic hoping to get help with obtaining a prosthetic leg. He is a diabetic patient and lost his leg in 2013 as a result of a wound on his left foot. Sadly, this is an all too common scenario when a patient receives their amputation to save their life (which is fantastic) but are left with little hope of ever walking again. Many times these patients cannot afford a wheelchair as well.
We met him at the clinic and thought he would be a great candidate for a leg. He received his leg October 19, 2015 and has been walking ever since. You can see him in the photo with his daughter and his smile says it all. Experiencing their joy with them is one of the best parts of serving with Hope To Walk. From now on, Omar will not be limited by immobility or confined to a wheel chair.
