Project Description

Thousands of children each year lose limbs, primarily from traumas and landmines, and families who live in poverty are often unable to afford prosthetics.  This can hinder children from getting an education, obtaining a job, and participating in society.  Hope To Walk desires to be a part of their solution.

Andy is one of these children who need our help.  He was only 2 years old when, while playing outside, accidently ran into a brush fire and sustained third degree burns to both of his feet.  He was taken to the hospital and his parents were told he would have to have his right leg amputated.   This devastated their family as they were unable to afford a prosthetic leg.  The truth is prosthetics often range from $3,000 – 6,000, however 2.7 million people in Honduras live on less than $3.10 per day.

We met Andy when he was 4 years old.  He had a loving family and an amazing spirit and learned to walk and play using his knees.  He received our first pediatric leg which cost only $75!  We believe it is amazing this amount of money can change a child’s life forever.  We desire to make this available to children around the world.

How will YOU help Hope To Walk help these children?
